Find shops that carry your size
Korea has specialist retailers for larger clothing sizes. Search for 빅사이즈, meaning larger sizes, and check the measurements of the particular garment. A shop's advertised maximum size does not mean that every design is available in that size.
For menswear, OKKANE and BIGNJOY list physical shops as well as online stock. BYMONO is another option to investigate. Check the current store directory, hours and available sizes before making a special journey.
For womenswear, ROMISTORY lists its shops and ranges online. August Plan and Big Dandy & Looks J also carry larger sizes. Check delivery arrangements before relying on an online order during a short stay.
International chains can provide more options, but their local stock and sizing may differ from what you know at home. Confirm the item and measurements rather than relying only on the brand.
Compare measurements
Look for 실측, meaning the garment's measured dimensions. Useful labels include 어깨너비 for shoulder width, 가슴단면 for chest width when laid flat, 총장 for total length and 소매길이 for sleeve length.
Compare these with a garment that fits you comfortably. A flat chest measurement is not the same as the full circumference around your body. Read the seller's measuring diagram and allow for the intended fit and fabric.
A free-size garment is offered in one size. The label does not promise that it fits every body shape. Numbered sizes and letters also vary by brand, so there is no universal rule to buy one size larger.
Ask about fitting and returns
Ask 입어봐도 돼요?, meaning “May I try this on?” Some small shops restrict fitting, while other retailers have fitting rooms. Check the policy for the actual item.
Read the exchange and return terms before paying, particularly at market stalls. Ask whether a change-of-mind return is allowed and whether tags and the receipt must be retained. A shop's change-of-mind policy is separate from rights relating to faulty goods.
Check shoe length and width
Korean shoe sizes commonly use millimetres. Measure your feet and use the brand's own size guide, then try the shoes when possible. Width and the shape of the shoe matter as well as length; simply choosing a longer size may not solve a width problem.
Specialist ranges, including Youbyeolna and BIGNJOY's larger-shoe selection, are worth checking for particular sizes. Their stock is not evidence of a universal maximum size sold in Korea.
Bring comfortable shoes that you can rely on for the trip. If replacing them would require an unusual size or fit, check local availability before depending on a shopping visit.
