Set the language
KakaoMap is a Korean navigation app. Look in its settings for the language option and choose English. Older guides may show a different menu path from your current version.
Some reviews, business notices and menu images may remain in Korean. Use a translation tool when needed, and confirm important details with the venue.
Use Roadview to inspect an entrance
Roadview displays street-level photographs. It can help you recognise a building, doorway or side entrance before arrival, especially when a business occupies an upper floor.
Check the image date where available. A shop sign, entrance or construction barrier may have changed since the photograph was taken. Save a useful image alongside the address rather than treating it as a replacement for the address.
The aerial map layer can help you understand a larger site, but it does not establish which entrance is currently open or step-free.
Cross-check unclear listings
If a name, address or opening time looks wrong, compare it with the venue's own information or another map service such as Naver Map, another Korean navigation app.
Try the Korean name, address, phone number or the venue's shared map link if an English search is unsuccessful. Confirm the branch instead of assuming the first result is correct.
Plan and follow a journey
Check the route, departure time, transfers and final walking section. Where supported, boarding or alighting alerts can help you follow a public-transport journey.
Allow required location and notification permissions if you want those alerts, and keep watching the route and stop information. Background restrictions, a lost connection or a changed service can affect an alert.
Check accessibility separately when stairs, gradients or station entrances matter to your journey.
Save useful information
KakaoMap offers saved places and folders. If prompted, sign in with your own Kakao account and check that the destination was saved successfully.
Save essential addresses and screenshots before leaving a reliable connection. Do not assume the app provides a downloadable offline map for every route; confirm the current feature in the official app listing or help information.
