Compare the climate averages

These are 1991–2020 climate averages, not a forecast for your visit. The daily high and low columns average many days over that period; they are not limits on how hot or cold a particular day can become. Precipitation is the average monthly total.

Account for humidity and heat

July can feel hotter than the air temperature alone suggests because humidity makes it harder for sweat to cool the body. Conditions vary, so use the current forecast's heat information rather than a fixed conversion from temperature and humidity.

Schedule demanding walks for a cooler part of the day, take regular breaks and carry drinking water. Warm nights can also reduce the relief you get after sunset, so check that your accommodation has suitable cooling.

Keep rain plans flexible throughout the month

Jangma, the summer rainy season, commonly extends into July. Historical average end dates fall during the latter part of the month, but rain does not stop on a fixed day and heat does not wait until the rainy season is over.

The climate table shows average monthly totals. A large share of the rain may fall in a small number of intense events, while other days can be dry.

Check Korea Meteorological Administration forecasts and warnings before travelling and again before an outdoor excursion. A seasonal outlook cannot tell you the weather on a particular booked day.

Respond to warnings, not just discomfort

Heavy rain can make streams, valleys, underpasses and riverside paths dangerous. Follow closures and evacuation instructions, and never enter floodwater to complete a planned route.

During a heat alert, adjust activity to your health and the conditions. Move indoors or into shade and seek help if someone becomes unwell. Summer rain and heat are not harmless merely because they are expected for the season.

Check managed swimming hours

Many beaches operate their main swimming season in July, but opening dates and daily lifeguard hours differ. Follow local flags, marked zones and staff instructions; a scheduled opening does not override a temporary weather closure.

Island ferries and coastal activities can also be disrupted by wind and waves. Check the operator before leaving your accommodation.

Look up holidays and festivals

Constitution Day, on 17 July, returned as a public holiday in 2026. In 2027 it falls on a Saturday, with a substitute holiday on 19 July, as described in the official calendar announcement.

The Boryeong Mud Festival is a summer event at Daecheon Beach. Use the official festival programme for current dates, tickets, age conditions and weather changes rather than applying a previous edition's schedule.

Holiday and festival weekends can be busy. Reserve essential transport and compare accommodation for the actual dates you need.

Pack for both outdoor heat and indoor cooling

Choose light, comfortable clothing that dries reasonably quickly, rain protection and shoes suitable for wet surfaces. A spare pair can help if one gets soaked.

Bring sun protection and a light layer for strongly air-conditioned interiors. Do not assume you need nothing warm simply because the outdoor monthly average is high.

Keep indoor visits in the itinerary for both heavy-rain periods and very hot afternoons. They are part of making the trip comfortable, not evidence that the day has failed.
