Compare the climate averages
These are 1991–2020 climate averages, not a forecast for your visit. The daily high and low columns average many days over that period; they are not limits on how hot or cold a particular day can become. Precipitation is the average monthly total.

Prepare for warm weather and longer days
June offers long daylight hours, but daylight does not determine when an attraction or trail closes. Check opening hours, last entry and any evening access restrictions before planning a late outing.
Inland cities can become hot, while coasts may be cooler but more humid or windy. A light layer is useful for air-conditioned interiors or an exposed evening, even when daytime clothing is light.
Understand the rainy-season timing
Jangma (장마) is Korea's summer rainy season, associated with a seasonal rain front. The 1991–2020 averages place its onset around 19 June on Jeju, 23 June in the south and 25 June in central Korea.
Those dates describe a historical average, not the start of rain in every year. Earlier June is not guaranteed dry, and late June is not a predictable coin toss between sunshine and continuous rain.
Use the current forecast and alerts for the region you will visit. Rain may be intermittent or intense, and conditions can differ substantially between cities.
Keep outdoor excursions adjustable
A ferry, mountain trail, river path or swimming plan may need to change because of rain, wind, waves or heat. Check the relevant operator's notice on the day, even if the sky where you are staying looks clear.
Stay away from flooded paths, stream valleys and closed areas during heavy rain. Waterproof clothing helps with ordinary rain; it does not make a flood-prone route safe.
Keep an indoor alternative and enough flexibility to rearrange a day. Do not wait for a particular calendar date before taking a severe-weather warning seriously.
Check beach opening arrangements
Beaches open for their managed swimming seasons on different dates. Confirm lifeguard hours, designated swimming areas and the day's flags or restrictions before entering the water.
Walking on an accessible beach outside the swimming season is different from having supervised bathing available. The water may also be cooler than the air suggests.
Look up June holidays and events
Memorial Day is 6 June. In 2026, the nationwide local election on 3 June is also a public holiday. Check how each holiday affects the services and venues you need rather than assuming all museums close or all shops stay open.
Gangneung Danoje is a traditional festival featuring rituals, performances and a market. Its dates follow the annual programme, so consult the official organiser before reserving a trip around it.
Pack for rain and sun
Bring light clothing, sun protection and practical rain protection. An umbrella can work for ordinary city rain, while a rain jacket may be more convenient when your hands need to be free; neither is suitable protection for an unsafe storm outing.
Quick-drying clothing and a spare pair of shoes can help after wet days. Keep essential electronics and documents protected, and plan laundry or drying time if the trip is long.
