Save the destination's original details
A Korean name and address can help a driver or staff member identify a place, especially when its English spelling varies between listings. Copy them from the venue's own information or a reliable map entry, and check that the map pin points to the correct branch.
English addresses can also be useful. Korea's official road-address service provides English address searches; an address does not become invalid simply because it is written in English. Keeping both versions makes it easier to recognise the destination and show its details to someone else.
For accommodation, save the booking's contact number and any arrival instructions. For a restaurant or shop, include the floor, building name and entrance information where available.
Make the screen easy to read
Open the relevant address before asking for help. Enlarge the text or zoom into a saved image, and adjust the brightness for the surrounding light. Keep the name and address together when both are needed to distinguish the destination.
Hold the screen where the other person can comfortably see it. You can continue holding your own phone; handing it over is optional. Avoid showing unrelated personal information alongside the address.
If the display keeps turning off during the conversation, wake it or temporarily extend the screen timeout. There is no need to disable automatic locking for the trip or leave the screen at maximum brightness throughout the day.
Some translation apps have a larger display or conversation view. Use it if it makes the message easier to read, and check that it is showing the wording you intend.
Keep an offline copy
Save a screenshot of the name, address and map pin while connected. A street-level entrance photograph can also help with a business that is upstairs, behind a building or inside a larger complex.
Check that the images are stored on the phone and open without Wi-Fi or mobile data. Put the ones you will need soon in an easily accessible album or note. A saved map screenshot shows the location, but it does not provide live navigation.
For booking documents, download the PDF or save an offline copy in an app you already know how to use. Check that the useful details remain readable when enlarged.
Add a keyboard only if you need to type
Copying and pasting Korean does not require a Korean keyboard. If you want one, follow the current instructions for iPhone, Gboard or Samsung Keyboard. Menu names can differ by software version.
The common dubeolsik (두벌식) layout places consonants on the left and vowels on the right. The keyboard combines the letters into syllable blocks as you type. A block may require several keystrokes.
If you do not read Korean, copying the text again is safer than guessing how to repair a missing character. Compare any edits with the source and watch for unwanted keyboard suggestions.
If the text still causes confusion
If characters appear as empty boxes, try another app or use an image saved from a device that displays them correctly. If the address is unclear, show the map pin and the venue's phone number as well.
You can try saying the name while showing the text. The written version gives the other person something to check if pronunciation or background noise makes it hard to understand.
