Ask for help with a tourism conversation
1330 is the Korea Tourism Organization's travel helpline. Its official service page includes tourist interpretation as well as information and complaints.
You can ask about help communicating with accommodation staff, a transport desk, restaurant or shop. Describe the situation first and let the operator explain whether and how the service can assist. Do not assume the operator can complete every call or make a business accept a request.
Prepare the information the conversation needs
Have the business name and phone number ready if the other person is elsewhere. For a booking, keep the date and booking reference available. For a charge, keep the receipt and the price you expected.
Explain what you need in a short sentence, such as “I left a bag in this taxi” or “I need to ask the hotel about my arrival time.” Give the interpreter time to relay each part and confirm the answer.
Involve the other person respectfully
Ask before putting the phone on speaker or connecting someone to a call. You can say 1330에 전화해도 될까요?, meaning “May I call 1330?” The other person may also contact the service for help communicating with a visitor.
Stay involved in the conversation. An interpreter helps convey what each person says; they do not become your representative or guarantee a booking, refund or agreement. Ask for important terms in writing if you may need them later.
Choose a contact method
Call 1330 within Korea or +82 2 1330 from overseas. The official Visit Korea page provides online voice calls and chat, including messaging links. Online calls over Wi-Fi are free, while telephone or mobile-data charges may apply through other connections.
Use the current service information for language availability and operating hours. If you use KakaoTalk, a messaging app widely used in Korea, follow the official site's link to the correct channel.
A photograph of a sign or receipt can help in chat, but share only the details necessary for the question.
Use the appropriate specialist service
For urgent police assistance call 112; for fire, an ambulance or rescue call 119. Ask the dispatcher for language help rather than delaying the emergency call.
For immigration questions call 1345. For a written tourism complaint, use the Tourist Complaint Center or ask 1330 how to submit it. BBB Korea is another telephone-interpretation option, provided by volunteers; its availability and service limits differ.
