Read the offer before filling your basket
1+1 means two qualifying units for the price of one; 2+1 means three for the price of two. Check which sizes, colours or variants qualify and take the required number to checkout. Do not assume every item beside the sign belongs to the promotion, or that a member coupon combines with it.
Read the shelf label for the price, end date and conditions. Ask staff to confirm the total before paying. A 기획 (gihoek) set is a packaged bundle, such as a full-size product with a smaller bottle. Compare the total quantity and price per millilitre with the multi-buy offer.
Check which promotion is running
Three cycles overlap.

Olive Young's own announcement gives the big sale's shape: four times a year, in March, June, September and December, with more than 1,500 beauty brands taking part. The 2026 spring sale shows what one looks like — 1 to 7 March 2026, about 30,000 beauty and wellness lines discounted in every store and online, with:
- Deal of the day (오늘의 특가) offered additional discounts on selected products for one day at a time.
- New-product specials (신상특가) and steady-seller specials (스테디셀러 특가) discounted different groups of products.
- Double sets (더블 기획) and gift bundles combined products in sale packages.
- Coupon packs had their own release times, spending requirements and limits. The highest advertised saving was not available on every purchase.
During that sale the stores in the tourist districts — Myeongdong (명동, central Seoul's main shopping street, and its cosmetics district), Seongsu (성수), Hongdae (홍대, the nightlife and student district around Hongik University), Busan and Jeju among them — also ran a Bu¥ No₩ promotion on fifteen items chosen as visitor favourites.
Check the announced dates for your trip. The March example above is a past sale, not a guarantee that every quarterly event runs from the first to the seventh.
Compare the price per unit
Divide the offer price by the number of full-size units or total millilitres. Compare that with another size or a packaged set; a promotional label alone does not establish the best price. In a 2018 Supreme Court case, the court found the challenged 1+1 advertising could mislead shoppers because it offered no economic benefit over buying two at the earlier price.
Separate member benefits from shelf offers
Olive Members (올리브 멤버스) has five tiers set on six months' spending and, since September 2025, re-graded monthly:

The operator describes monthly coupon packs worth up to ₩24,000 and Olive Members Day. Its domestic iPhone app lists Korean as its language. Ask staff which offers are available without a domestic membership account before spending time registering.
What Olive Young offers visitors instead is a rolling set of payment-linked discounts, published by the company: as expired examples, 10% off (capped ₩20,000) on spends of at least ₩100,000 paid by UnionPay, 5% off (capped ₩10,000) with WOWPASS (the prepaid card that turns foreign cash into won at a kiosk), plus Alipay, WeChat Pay and Trip.com offers. The UnionPay offer ended 19 March; the WOWPASS offer ran 15–22 February. Check the current offer and whether it combines with your basket’s discounts.
One receipt, for the tax refund
Olive Young is where most cosmetics tax refunds in Korea happen — 88% of Global Tax Free's Korean cosmetics refund transactions in January–November 2025 were rung up in its stores. The refund is calculated per transaction, with a floor of ₩15,000 including tax, and immediate refund at the till is available while the single transaction is under ₩1,000,000 and your cumulative purchases using immediate refund this trip stay at ₩5,000,000 or less.
If you are making several purchases, check whether they can be paid for in one eligible transaction. Three separate ₩12,000 receipts refund nothing; one ₩36,000 receipt refunds. And because 1+1 lowers the total, a basket that cleared the floor on paper can drop below it once the free items come off — glance at the screen before you tap.
Selected stores are receiving an AI kiosk in eight languages that answers product, stock and refund questions, and staff carry a 38-language translation service reached by scanning a QR code, both introduced in July 2026. Ask staff to confirm any conditions you do not understand.
