Save details before you lose your connection
Reception can vary by building, location and carrier. Korea's 2025 national coverage audit measured 5G at over 900 Mbps on the subway and meeting the high-definition standard 98.56% of the time there — better than outdoors. Where it fails is inside buildings. Of 350 major facilities checked, 27 fell below the coverage threshold, 25 of them indoor, and 22 of those with no indoor base station at all — a clothing store in Hannam, an outlet mall in Incheon, a cinema in Chuncheon, a Daiso (Korea's cheap variety-store chain, where most things cost ₩1,000–5,000) in Sokcho, two municipal museums. At the worst of them one carrier connected 35% of the time. Carriers' own maps overstate too: six sampled areas were marked covered and were not, and 41 of 1,269 advertised Wi-Fi points did not work.
The cited audit does not give a separate figure for basement floors or the underground arcades under Myeongdong (central Seoul's main shopping street, and its cosmetics district), Euljiro and Gangnam; so its findings cannot establish reception at a particular entrance or counter.
Why the confirmation may never reach you
A business may send confirmation by email, text message, an app notification or KakaoTalk, a messaging app. Check the contact method attached to your booking and make sure the confirmation arrived. A foreign phone number does not by itself prevent a configured KakaoTalk account from receiving internet messages.
What to screenshot
Save a locally available copy rather than relying only on a link. A screenshot can be opened without signing back into the booking app, but some tickets require a live code or the original app for entry.
Every booking
- Save the confirmation and booking number. A concert box office releases a will-call ticket only to the named holder showing a passport and the booking reference — “Buying K-pop and concert tickets from abroad”.
- Save the venue’s Korean name and road address. The Korean spelling helps a driver or staff member identify the correct place when its English name is ambiguous.
- Record the date and time clearly, including the year if the booking is far ahead.
- Save a street-level screenshot of the map location. You can consult the image without loading the map again.
- Save the cancellation conditions you accepted at checkout — “Restaurant cancellation windows and refunds”.
Once a trip
- Save your hotel’s Korean name and address — “Your hotel's Korean address and how to show it”.
- Save your onward transport details, including train bookings, the airport-bus stop and your flight reference.
- Keep a secure copy of your passport’s photo page. It does not replace the original where identification is required.
And one thing that is not a screenshot: write the booking number down somewhere that is not the phone. A screenshot survives a lost signal; it does not survive a dead battery.

Convenience stores sell battery packs; cafés and subway stations have charging points. Keep your phone charged and carry any essential backup details separately.
