The call, in five lines
Start with a greeting, ask about availability, then give the date, time and party size. Keep a written note beside you so that you can check the details during the call.
— *Hello, I'm calling about a reservation.*
— *Is a table for two at 7 this evening possible?*
— *My name is [name].*
— *Yes, understood — thank you.*
- If you need English assistance, ask: 영어를 하는 직원이 있나요? — *Is there someone who speaks English?*
If no English-speaking staff member is available, thank the person and end the call politely. You can then ask your hotel or 1330 about interpretation help.
Ask 1330 for travel interpretation assistance
The 1330 Korea Travel Helpline provides travel information and interpretation assistance. Dial 1330 in Korea or +82-2-1330 from abroad. Its official website also offers online calls and chat; online calls over Wi-Fi are free, while ordinary calling or mobile-data charges depend on your service.
Give the adviser the restaurant’s name and phone number, your preferred date and time, and the number of guests. Explain what you need help understanding or arranging. Confirm the service’s language availability and hours through the official page.
Use the right number for the purpose
1339 remains the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency’s helpline. It is not the restaurant-booking assistance line. For travel interpretation, use 1330. For an emergency, call 112 for police or 119 for fire and ambulance services.
