Try both apps with a route you plan to take
Naver Map and KakaoMap are Korean navigation apps. Both provide local place search and directions. Naver Map offers translated place information and reviews. KakaoMap’s Roadview displays street-level photographs that can help you recognise a building and find its entrance.
Try the same destination in both apps. Choose the one whose directions and language settings work best for you, and use the other to check an unclear listing.
Search with the Korean name when an English spelling fails
A business may use different English spellings on its sign, website and map listing. Copy its Korean name, road address or telephone number into the search box. Check the branch and map location: two businesses can have the same name.
A shared link from the map app can take you directly to the intended listing. Ask your accommodation or the business to send one if you cannot find it.
Check the details that matter for your visit
- Check opening hours and regular closing days. A listing may be outdated, so confirm with the business when the visit depends on a particular time.
- Inspect the entrance using street-level photographs when the building is unfamiliar. Check the floor number as well.
- Check the walking sections of a public-transport route, including the station exit and any transfer.
- Check that the app’s language setting suits you. Translations may be incomplete even when the interface is in English.
Save directions before losing your connection
Save screenshots of the route, Korean address and entrance photograph. A saved image can help you find the destination without mobile data, but it will not update your route or show live arrivals.
